Shannon Tyler-Garces, Founder of STG College Admission Coaching, LLC., and Professional Member of Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), is a former high school guidance counselor and Director of College Counseling who gained her in-depth knowledge of the college admission process in New York City. She worked in high schools both in Brooklyn, New York, as well as East Harlem, New York, and coached students into some of the most selective colleges and universities in the country. Shannon, also, has been a reader and interviewer for The Gates Scholarship–gaining valuable insight on scholarship winners–and on the admission 'side of the desk' with New York University reviewing applications and making decisions on the applicant pool. Outside of working directly with students and parents in Miami and New York, Shannon has also coached counselors and advisors in schools in New York City, Los Angeles, & St. Louis, to help them learn the ins and outs of college admission counseling.
Shannon has been recognized by College Board's Counselor Recognition Program and has presented at national college access conferences in Indianapolis & St. Louis on topics of building a college-going culture and preparing for high-value careers.
As part of the admission coaching process, Shannon uses her past experiences to inform her work in preparing students for the "holistic" college admission process. She believes in including the family in the application process and works to relieve the anxiety that comes with applying to and enrolling in college.
Outside of her career, she is married with two young children. Shannon and her husband are dedicated to raising their children to be contributors to society and change-makers in the world.

TESTIMONIALS
Shannon has helped my son with the admissions process, and let me tell you she's truly God sent. She gave my son amazing guidance in his preparation which resulted in him getting to his dream college. Shannon had checked his college essay and guided him through the interview, she also very carefully explain the process, making the whole experience less scary and stressful. She is a reliable and professional counselor and gave my son the prep he needed to excel. She also helped me with the FAFSA application and gave us a lot of tips about getting the best financial support for his higher education. I highly recommend Shannon and her service, top quality!!
